About this audiobook
The Destruction of Black Civilization took Chancellor Williams 16 years of research and field study to compile. The book, which was to serve as a reinterpretation of the history of the African race, was intended to be "a general rebellion against the subtle message from even the most 'liberal' white authors (and their Negro disciples): 'You belong to a race of nobodies. You have no worthwhile history to point to with pride.'" The book was written at a time when many black students, educators, and scholars were starting to piece together the connection between the way their history was taught and the way they were perceived by others and by themselves. They began to question assumptions made about their history and took it upon themselves to create a new body of historical research. The book is premised on the question: If the Blacks were among the very first builders of civilization and their land the birthplace of civilization, what has happened to them that has left them since then, at the bottom of world society, precisely what happened? The Caucasian answer is simple and well known: The Blacks have always been at the bottom."
Williams instead contends that many elements—nature, imperialism, and stolen legacies—have aided in the destruction of the black civilization. The Destruction of Black Civilization is revelatory and revolutionary because it offers a new approach to the research, teaching, and study of African history by shifting the main focus from the history of Arabs and Europeans in Africa to the Africans themselves, offering instead "a history of blacks that is a history of blacks. Because only from history can we learn what our strengths were and, especially, in what particular aspect we are weak and vulnerable. Our history can then become at once the foundation and guiding light for united efforts in serious[ly] planning what we should be about now."

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The narrator made it impossible to take this audiobook seriously. It’s something about hearing a white man keep saying “The Blacks” ? that doesn’t allow me to connect to the content and even makes me think someone was trying to be funny?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Phenomenal book. Everyone should read it. It is extremely important for the white supremacist to do so because we have all been lied to. Now the world finds itself in this stupid echo chamber of falsehoods. The author should be immortalized!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I find the Author’s foregrounding on the fact that Black people are of a common ancestry, having more similarities than differences very refreshing. This is so true, as those who have travelled widely across Africa will testify- especially when relating with more traditional societies and not urban centers which are more cosmopolitan in nature.
We need to unite as a people to resolve our problems by ourselves, as no help will come from outside. Black people across the world need to create more cohesion amongst themselves instead of squabbling over what essentially are minor differences.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The absolute worst pairing of narrator and book
My second problem is that blacks is not a people
And so this book
Does as much harm as good as it continues the blurring of identity if you can get past these then I guess1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A MUST-READ! Wholly informative and necessary for any library. Honestly not a fan of the narrator, his tonality doesn’t fit this topic. Burn the history books distributed throughout the US & Europe. Very eye opening and twice as revealing; the will to suppress an entire race stems from one’s own inequities and deficiencies. Jealousy is but a perverted form of obsession. No matter how you try to WHITE-OUT history, the truth will always prevail. White Supremacy will never digress! Spencer and Karen will say this is black-victimization. BUY! Home-school your children black people. Don’t allow further indoctrination. ✊?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An eye opening , brainy and honest book that continues to gain relevance. Indispensable to the sincere remediation of the lie that is accepted as world history.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is an excellent book. Very informative and a press to start uncovering the history of a long for gotten people. Scrub however here would get a one star as an app due to the complete blacking out of some of the audio in the book starting at chapter 8

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The topic is interesting but the book is written in a childish, conversational style which doesnt fit it at all. Also, the audiobook's reader's voice really doesn't fit for audiobooks.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The tedious and detailed writing of African history that would only be available by one whom patted feet to the ground and turned over the earths dust with an archeaologist’s spade

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Rather than writing about the zulus or songhai, this book takes a postmodern revisionist approach to history.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The "We Wuz Kangz" meme in book form, an interesting mix between black supremacy and black victimhood. Edit: I decided to listen to a few more chapters, this man is wholly ignorant of history, geography, tribal warfare, genetics, geology, religion ahh so many things. As someone else in the reviews said, this is a must read, people need to see what kind of fantasy fiction can be written to justify hatred towards white people, this book is a joke and the author is completely incompetent.
