About this audiobook
Editor's Note
Two masters...
Two masters of their respective arts join forces in this collection of twelve of Chekhov’s greatest short stories, as narrated by the incomparable Kenneth Branagh.
Anton Chekhov
Anton Chekhov was born in 1860 in Southern Russia and moved to Moscow to study medicine. Whilst at university he sold short stories and sketches to magazines to raise money to support his family. His success and acclaim grew as both a writer of fiction and of plays whilst he continued to practice medicine. Ill health forced him to move from his country estate near Moscow to Yalta where he wrote some of his most famous work, and it was there that he married actress Olga Knipper. He died from tuberculosis in 1904.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Chekhov is so hit or miss for me. His comedies were pretty amusing though. At least, I *think* it was supposed to be a comedy.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Surprised I haven’t come across Chekov’s work before. Beautiful sparse language almost on the verge of being like a play or script. Great humor and characters. Well worth the time.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Amazing audiobook. It cuts off with about 15 minutes left in the last chapter for me though.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The narrator's voice is not easy on the ears. There is tension in her voice and tone. I last one minute before I came to flip the page to another book.
