Traditionally, canary cage fronts will feature a central door to allow the cage to be serviced by the fancier. The door should be large enough for you to pass your hand through to catch birds and similar tasks, but not so large that birds can slip past your hand and escape.

It is also a good idea to ensure that the door will drop down
