We’re calling this a wildcard choice because it’s bound to raise a few eyebrows. After all, the Vanden Plas 1500 was based on the Allegro, the British Leyland product that so many love to hate. And yet, we think it deserves a place here; for starters, it was a lot better than the armchair critics would have you believe, and now, as back in period, offers luxurious features at an affordable price – precisely the point of this feature.
