When they’re not blastingand while all the expected Venom and Celtic Frost reference points are here in abundance, there’s a heightened punk flavour on this second album too, with songs like echoing the determined grooves of Poison Idea’s There’s not a dull moment on and while it won’t be the most original record you’ll hear this year, it’s easily the band’s most focused and potent yet. Emphatic proof that Bat aren’t just a mere side-project, but a snarling, fully fledged heavy metal monster in their own right.
