Drama: SEXY BEAST

An eight-part TV prequel to Jonathan Glazer’s cult 2000 film created by Michael Caleo, who alsoreboot on his CV. The younger versions of Gal Dove (James McArdle) and the sociopathic Don Logan (Emun Elliott) are running together in 1990s London when they are drawn into the orbit of sexual predator and gangster Teddy Bass (a weird and imperious Stephen Moyer). Tamsin Greig comes into the story as Don’s older sister and de facto parent Cecelia – and has attracted a good deal of the show’s critical praise. Reviewers have been divided as to whether Caleo’s prequel is a folly or not, but if you’re after dark comedy, extreme violence and a lot of swearing, you’ve come to the right place.
