first saw King Crimson at the Cow Palace in San Francisco in June 1974. They opened for Ten Years After. They played a short set, but they played . I know because I left with the bass riff and the coda going through my head for weeks after. I remember thinking, ‘What is riff in my head. I even went back to my band and I tried to get them to play the big riff by trying to sing it to them a tune that I don’t even really understand. [Laughs]
