Build a Robe River M636

In a previous article I detailed how I built a Mt Newman C36-7M. (see AMRM issue No. 355 August 2022).

This time, I have built a Robe River Iron Associates M636 fitted with their unique air-to-air cooling. The model is HO scale, using a Canadian Pacific M636 as a base and parts from a Burlington Northern C636 from Bowser. The whole model took a year to build.

Materials Required

Parts required:

• 1 × M636 Canadian Pacific (CP) Rail 5-inch stripe air start, Product No. 24273 • 1 × C636 Burlington Northern • For the hand brake (lever style) for the left side of the short hood low nose. • 1 × Cal Scale's loco brake No. 190-617. • For the grilles 1 × Passion Models Panther Ausf.D Mesh PE set for Tamiya MM 35345 • Vernier calipers as required • Soldering iron: This is optional on brake rigging and also on container lift rings and rods respectively
