Snake charmer

When high end interior designer and all-round car guy, Brook Anderson, approached Valley Gas Speed Shop with the idea of building a limited run of re-imagined Jensen Interceptors, he started out on a path that was never going to be an easy one.

Jimmy and ‘the unhinged crew’ at VGSS had already built two MGs for Brook, which had subsequently been sold to Scandinavia, so the idea was an extension of those builds. This time, though, they were to be “the ultimate expression of what a modern Interceptor may have been like,” as Jimmy Hibberd, boss man in the Valley, puts it.

That is to say, they weren’t going to be simply modern engines dropped in old car, but completely re-imagined in every area. Or “the definition of luxury from a past era alongside 21st Century reliability, power and handling,” to quote from viperceptor.co.uk.

The Jensen Interceptor was an interesting concept in its own right, an amalgamation of British engineering, Italian styling and American horsepower. The car was designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, who also did design work for Ferrari and Maserati. Engines were sourced from Chrysler in the USA, initially 383ci big blocks, but,
