When our Head of Content, Jules Truss, mentioned the magazine’s latest project car was to be based on a Caddy 2K I wasn’t exactly enamoured at first - especially when he said it was to be built on a sensible budget, too. However, when the base vehicle arrived and proved to be extremely tidy, it soon got our creative juices flowing.

As the build was going to be produced in conjunction with Teng Tools, Elliott soon came up with the idea of a Race Support theme and with the old-skool Porsche Rennsport VW T1s for inspiration, we hit the ground running. Well, we did after our Midge fitted a new injector to the Caddy (the original let Jules down on the way home from being collected). We told Jules we’d brush over that, so, moving on…

The early Volkswagen T1s used by Porsche Rennsport as support vehicles back in the day were predominantly painted red, which tied in perfectly with the official Teng Tools branding. And with vehicle wrapping vinyl producer, Arlon coming on board
