WATCHING Naoya Inoue be floored by the left hook of Luis Nery in the opening round of their undisputed super-bantamweight title fight was a jaw-dropping moment.

The seemingly invincible Inoue paid the price for a split second of complacency which his Mexican challenger snapped up, suggesting for a moment that the “Monster” may be human.

An expectant crowd of 40,000 were left stunned and the Tokyo Dome hadn’t witnessed anything like it since Mike Tyson’s humbling defeat to huge underdog James “Buster” Douglas in February 1990. Inoue would return to his feet, however, to dish out a methodical beating.
