Aimee Erickson

AIMEE ERICKSON SEES HER OVERABUNDANT ART studio as a really well-stocked kitchen. You could walk in and make anything you want at a moment’s notice, from a dinner for friends to a multi-tiered wedding cake.

“What I have is a lot of space for my ridiculous collection of art supplies,” she says. The garage at her Portland, Oregon home was the reason she bought the house. She insulated it, installed skylights, turned it into a studio and filled it with everything a painter needs. At some point, she built an addition to this garage-studio, which houses more inspiring objects including a working player piano. “I’m well stocked. I say my studio’s a place where I collect things,” she says.
