Nesting fever across the board

MARCH was the month when, as usual, I decided which canaries to pair. Since I am not interested in producing show specimen birds, the major determining factor is feather type, followed by condition. That is, I breed yellow to buff and choose the birds that are at the same stage of readiness for breeding.

However, at the time of writing I do not expect to be providing nest baskets for them until at least the start of April. In past times, the canarysecond week in April at the earliest, but global warming is changing our seasons, so by the time you read this I should have paired those birds up.
