The man charged with getting Yamaha back on top of MotoGP is Takahiro Sumi. The factory has won a single MotoGP title in the last eight seasons, when Fabio Quartararo just held off Ducati’s Pecco Bagnaia to win the 2021 crown.

Yamaha has struggled ever since 2016, when MotoGP switched to a spec ECU and Michelin tyres.
