One For(k) The Ages

NOT OFTEN, BUT every once in a while, a bass tournament comes along that sets new standards, raises the bar and opens eyes. The 2024 Bassmaster Elite Series event on Texas’ Lake Fork was one of those tournaments.

For starters, the winner — Trey McKinney of Carbondale, Ill.— is not only the youngest Elite Series winner in history at 19 years and seven days, but he is the youngest winner in all of B.A.S.S. professional tournament history. The previous Elite record was Jay Przekurat, who was just 23 years and six days old when he won at the St. Lawrence River in 2022. McKinney eclipsed that mark by four years!
