The previous instalment of our Continental project saw us driving away from West London Rolls/Bentley specialist Nigel Sandell with a to-do list which was mercifully short.
As I’ve mentioned in previous instalments, there’s a lot which can go wrong with these cars and some items can be unexpectedly costly, but most of the issues flagged by technician Jonny O’Neill during his inspection were of the tinkering kind: the incorrect wiper blades, missing lens on the driver’s door mirror indicator and the inoperative electric bootlid.
More serious items included fault codes for an oxygen sensor and for the emissions-related secondar y air injection system, plus discs and pads due for replacement, but one thing needing immediate attention was the split CV boot on the offside front.
Even with the car on the lift, we’d been unable to work out where the grease was coming from and concluded that the split was most
