ELL ME IT’S not just me that does this. I love looking at old copies of Wheels and wondering why, to proffer a 1968 example, more people didn’t buy Jaguar E-Types, Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagodas or Toyota 2000GTs. All are worth a mint these days, yet were available new for four-figure sums at a time when a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow retailed for 25 grand.
