Where previous incarnations of the A40 employed typically curvaceous looks of the period, a new era began with the Pinin Farina-penned model of 1958. Combining sharp styling courtesy of the Italian design studio with trusted mechanicals that included the venerable A-Series engine, the car proved to be very popular, selling to the tune of almost 170,000 units in its first three years.
