Best alarm clock for heavy sleepers: Sunrise, smart and soundless options to get you up and at 'em

Some people have no trouble drifting off.

You know the type. Whether it’s a quiet interlude at the cinema, while travelling or during a particularly banal PowerPoint presentation, they’ll find a way to cat-nap despite our sideways looks of envy. 

It’s all good and well being able to fall asleep easily, but on office days or before early flights or appointments, it’s waking up that’s the hard part. Deep sleepers can find it challenging to rouse, even with a phone’s alarm snoozed at five-minute intervals.

Mobiles are great for many things, but ill-suited to wake-up calls: they’re just too easy to snooze (even when you’re half-awake) and fling across the carpet or bury under a pillow. It’s time to call in the big guns.
