ANDREAS SCHÖNFELD pure emotion!

Born in Berlin at the turn of the 1960s, Andreas’ very first train set was an Egger-Bahn starter one; it was love at first sight! He quickly became a keen modeller, an H0-9 fan, doubling as an enlightened collector of that brand.than 120 models, ranging from track to regulators and including locomotives, carriages and wagons. Andreas shared with Theodor a very specific vision of railway modelling: it had to be affordable for everyone, it had to be usable in any kind of dwelling, it had to have something «special». «Railway modelling is not essential to life, it's just pure emotion», to quote Andreas. In this respect, his models are not perfect copies of the prototypes, they aim to express the character of the prototypes. If a headlamp seems too small, it can be enlarged, if a funnel is too slim, it can be fattened, the engine must give the feeling that the viewer is standing next to it. To contain production costs and hence selling prices, Andreas simplified the general shapes and the assemblies; an H0-9 carriage usually consists of just 20 to 25 parts. The locomotives share a standard chassis drawn and designed to replace the old Egger-Bahn mechanisms. However, quite soon, additional axles and pony trucks were added.
