Keeping it in the family: mother-daughter crew a heritage era first?

ONCE taken for granted as menonly domain, the heritage era has more than proved that the footplate is for anyone. The Talyllyn Railway has been a pioneer in many fields since initiating the volunteer-led preservation movement 73 years ago and on March 8 it broke new ground with what is believed to be the first ever locomotive crew comprising a mother and daughter in the UK heritage sector – to celebrate International Women's Day.
