BULLET HELLS

As one of the most iconic arcade games ever made, it’s rather surprising that is hardly ported. The same year of title. Then, curiously, in 2010 a playable version of was hidden inside CAVE’s Japanese Xbox 360 visual novel . Unlock the game, and you could even play using the Kinect controller, which felt very strange. And then there’s the ultra rare, arcade-exclusive Campaign Version, a PCB containing the remixed that was given to ZBL-NAI, the winner of 1998’s Sega Saturn Championship competition. Rumours suggest other entrants may have received a board. Some believe between one and three copies were made. Other reports suggest 100 boards exist. Either way, with the ROM never dumped and CAVE having lost the source code, there really is no more desirable bullet hell release. Almost the only footage is from a homebrew VHS, DDP Professional Vol 2, made by shooting game crew Team SOF (top right).
