Denny Woods, 28, Central Coast, NSW
Watching the news, I stared in horror at the devastating footage of the Black Summer bushfires that were ripping through Australia’s bushland in a fiery inferno.
It was December 2019, and I lived in Ourimbah on the Central Coast, NSW. While my 20-acre property was bone dry, I’d dodged the fires that were bringing other areas to their knees.
My heart ached for those whose land, livelihoods, and homes had been reduced to a heap of ash.
