All over the UK, classic tractors are still putting in a shift – on smallholdings, farms, and as part of contracting fleets. Their lower purchase price, reliability, and the fact that they are easier to maintain and repair makes them an attractive proposition to those that do not have the money or inclination to spend vast sums on new machinery
Somerset residents Ross Dunster and the Collins family both run John Deeres as part of their businesses, having relied on them for many years.
Peter Collins and his son, Simon, run a mixed farm near Bath with help from Simon’s Godson Michael Brent. The trio uses a 1973 John Deere 2130 and 1981 John Deere 3140 on the farm, with local man Nigel Hutchings providing the back-up for servicing and maintenance.
