A relaxing promenade along Brighton’s iconic Victorian seafront is an essential start to any visit to the city. Though it was once a small Saxon fishing village, in the 18th century Dr Richard Russell, a physician and author of a treatise on the health benefits of sea bathing, relocated his practice to Brighton’s seafront, marking the beginning of the transformation of the town into a fashionable seaside resort.
