Welcome once again to the annual Classic Boat Awards in association with Classic Marine, where we celebrate the best in the sometimes unsung world of classic and traditional boatbuilding and restoration. It’s always heartening to see how many people get involved with the voting process. It’s probably worth repeating that people vote for all sorts of reasons: for the restoration or build; for the boat itself; for the story; or for the purpose. After all, you can easily spend millions on a rebuild, but if it’s to the wrong boat, or it’s for the wrong owner or with lacklustre purpose, it doesn’t necessarily tick enough boxes. We were particularly taken aback this year by the number of sailing yahct restorations, the bread and butter of these awards, and the founding principle: it was, after all, the restoration of the ‘super cutter’ in 2007 that
