Set in an imagined country in central Europe, the six-part series sees Kate play Chancellor Elena Vernham, whose dictatorship is starting to unravel. Having grown more and more paranoid and unstable, she turns to volatile soldier Herbert’s Andrea Riseborough plays Agnes, who runs the household staff at the palace where Elena resides.
