ast summer, Californian street paper ceased production. For 28 years it had printed a monthly publication sold by between 60 and 100 vendors in the Berkeley and Oakland area, using a similar model to Big Issue. Vendors would buy copies and keep the proceeds as profit. But financial challenges meant operation was no longer sustainable, threatening to end decades of the organisation’s advocacy and campaigning work.
