1 Clear and clean

Clear out any debris from gutters and downpipes to prevent blockages and water damage during autumn and winter. Check the roof for loose or damaged shingles and make any necessary repairs to prevent leaks.

2 Call cool-weather coverings

Sheer curtains are perfect for balmy summer weather but they’re not so good at keeping the heat in and the cool out. Invest in layered or insulated curtains or add an attachable lining for extra insulation.

3 Inspect for draughts
