THE COURAGE TO CARE

“What shall we call her?” William asked his wife as he held their child.

Fanny looked out of the window, and then at the baby. “We're in the city of Florence, it's a pretty place, and I think ‘Florence’ is a lovely name!” (Florence's big sister, Parthenope, was also named after the place where she was born.)

A Little while Later, the family returned to England. William was lucky enough to have been given lots of money by his great-uncle, so they could afford two big homes. Embley home was Lea Hurst. This towering brick manor house was in an area called the Peak District, on the wild and beautiful moors.
