STAR LETTER
WAITING TO HEAL
Grateful thanks to Greta Solomon and her article on Navigating the Personal Sharing Minefield (Writing from the wound, WM April). I have gone through a very heartbreaking and traumatic two years watching my darling husband going through dementia. He is in a hospital facility and unfortunately I still have to watch over his care which is taking its toll on my health.
I have kept a diary documenting this journey and yesterday I decided it may be cathartic to write the story and do ‘something’ with it. However my Writing Magazine arrived and as I started reading it whilst having my lunch I read Greta’s article and it really spoke to me; I would indeed be writing from the wound and not the scar.
I will write my story for myself and perhaps one day when a scar has formed I will do something with it to help other people.
