Even though it’s in the genre’s name, for plenty of MMORPG players roleplaying exists as a kind of subculture within their games, a curiosity to gawk at from afar and occasionally poke fun at (sometimes deservedly – as you’ll know if you’ve seen the ill-advised, unofficial NSFW nightclub billboards that went up in real-life Texas and California).
But for many (myself included), roleplaying is a large part of what we love about gaming, and about writing – whether that’s rolling the dice at a tabletop session or losing ourselves in videogame RPG worlds like those
