Henry VIII could hardly have foreseen the lower orders parading with their pandemonium of noisome, odious contrivances at Grimsthorpe, a mere five centuries after giving it to Lord Willough by de Eresby and his bride. The annals make no mention of other items on their wedding list but a 3000-acre country estate was surely a fair start. It remains a fine property too, nestling in rolling Lincolnshire countryside with abundant woodland, lakes, deer and wildlife as well as arable farmland. The present house dates from the 18th century and is well worth a visit in its own right. Now occupied by the 28th Baroness Willoughby de Eresby, the family has shown the value
