Gaza: UN Security Council passes resolution calling for ceasefire

The United Nations Security Council has demanded a ceasefire in Gaza during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, its first demand to halt fighting.
It adopted the resolution on Monday demanding an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and the release of all hostages after the United States abstained from the vote.
