Leisure Painter

Just add shine

Shiny metal objects make for really interesting subject matter because of the refl ections they create. When you look closely, you’ll notice subtle colour variations within the refl ections on the kettle. As you begin, you may fi nd it challenging to paint something that is refl ective, but once you get going, you’ll begin to see refl ections as lines and shapes. This makes the process a bit easier.

You will need

• Acrylics: yellow ochre, cobalt blue, ivory black, titanium white & alizarin crimson • Wood panel 5×5in. (13x13cm) primed with white gesso • Graphite or coloured pencil • Eraser • Ruler • White gesso • Fixative spray • Palette knife • Palette • Container of water • Paper towels • Glazing medium (optional, can use water) •Brushes: 1in.
