When the receivers arrived at Live on 22 August 2005, I’d love to say it was was still a profitable title with a lot of goodwill, but its stablemates were mostly PC mags that couldn’t compete with the internet. It’s telling that of all the mags that were put up for sale, only found a buyer. A few weeks later I found myself at home writing a Spectrum feature for the issue 19 – with the cactus on my desk and a smile on my face.
