Pandora

WHILE THERE CAN’T BE MANY WOMEN who are not familiar with the stylish and unique Pandora beads and bracelets, the story behind the famous Danish jewellery is less well known but just as fascinating.

The name Pandora is best known from Greek mythology and the story of Pandora’s box. The myth suggests that Zeus wanted revenge on the god, Prometheus, for stealing fire from him and giving it to the mortals. He ordered Hephaestus, the god of blacksmiths, artisans and craftsmen, to create Pandora, the first woman on earth and asked the other gods to lavish her in a way that would entice mankind.

So each God gave gifts to Pandora – Athena, the goddess of wisdom, gave Pandora clothes while Aphrodite, the goddess of love, gave her beauty. Jewellery,
