Back to the drawing board

SINCE 1991, the Salon du Dessin, Paris’s annual early-spring fair devoted to master drawings, has attracted connoisseurs, collectors and curators. A visitor to the Palais Brongniart, formerly the Bourse, cannot fail to be struck by their knowledge and enthusiasm. In 1999, the commercial event inspired the launch of a Semaine du Dessin, during which museums and libraries in Paris and beyond put on special exhibitions—so many, indeed, that it can be very hard to decide how best to use one’s time.

The Salon did (and does) not offer contemporary work, leading to the founding in 2007 of Drawing Now to cater for’ to its title.
