It’s time to for a state bank ‘to serve the masses’

At long last South Africa will see the establishment of a state bank. The president signed the Post Bank Limited Amendment Bill into law in September last year and the South African Reserve Bank’s prudential authority must now formalise this in a licence.

The ANC prides itself on being the oldest liberation movement in Africa which might explain why it has taken nearly 30 years to establish a state bank.
