LETTER OF THE ISSUE

Layered approach

In response to James Baker’s letter asking Deano about removing and refitting helmet liners (Lidded questions, AMCN Vol 73 No 17), I found using a thin cotton (breathable) balaclava when I ride, and put just it through the wash, I have never had a problem with a stinky liner.

I’ve done this for years and I now live in Queensland and have had no issues. Another plus is that it’s easier to pull the helmet on and off while wearing earplugs, too. And I’ve found there’s no difference in airflow while riding.

Thanks for the great read every fortnight.
