Ireland will hope to retain their Six Nations title against Scotland on Super Saturday, having seen dreams of a historic Grand Slam cruelly dashed.

Andy Farrell’s previously dominant Green Machine went to Twickenham in round four just two wins away from becoming the first team in the Six Nations era ever to win successive Grand Slams, but were well below their usual sky-high standards against an improved England outfit and lost a pulsating thriller by a single point courtesy of Marcus Smith’s dramatic last-gasp drop goal.

As well as keeping their double Grand Slam bid firmly on track, beating England would also have safely wrapped up another title for Ireland
