What to do if you breach your planning permission

Getting planning consent for a new home or extension can be such a joyous moment. I still absolutely love it every single time I get a permission through for my clients, and they, of course, are even more overjoyed than I am. This is particularly true when it’s taken months of delving into detailed planning policies and trudging through the treacle that is our planning system to get there. Hopefully your planning consultant will have guided you to success without too many scars, but don’t let the joy of that achievement allow you to relax too much. One of your next jobs is to make sure your new building or extension meets the details approved by the planning permission that has been issued. If you don’t stick to those details, you could be in breach of the planning rules.
