When the weather’s torrential outside, few things feel more cosy than curling up in front of the fire.

Fireplaces are fast becoming a must-have for homeowners, with many folks restoring old grates and hearths back to their former glory and buyers adding the feature to their perfect home shopping list. 

Indeed, according to the National Association of Home Builders’ 2019 report on What Home Buyers Really Want, more than half of those asked said that a fireplace was a desirable extra in a home. While the data looks at the US, it’s a story that’s echoed on this side of the pond.
