Taking the BULL by the horns

A few years ago, when I was working in a Melbourne gunshop on a part-time basis I met a fellow SSAA hunter and shooter, Michael, who was interested in purchasing a Verney-Carron big game double rifle.

In discussions I recounted my memorable buffalo hunt in Arnhem Land with Muckadilla Safaris. He had previously hunted plains game in Africa and red deer, chamois and tahrs in New Zealand.

But since then, the demands of his work and later some personal setbacks had restricted his hunting to the occasional pack-in solo hunt after deer in the High Country. Now he was in the position to travel and more fully pursue hunting animals he long admired like exotic deer, antelopes and dangerous game.
