TALKING to each other – we do it all the time. Yet it can so easily go wrong.
You say something to your partner, firmly believing that all you’re trying to do is get your point across, but they get upset, and before you know it, you’re having an argument.
The way you phrase what you’re trying to say can either help or hurt your relationship, and experts say there are certain things you should never say to your partner.
“We often don’t realise that what we say may be triggering for our partner,” says Paula Quinsee, a relationship expert based in Sandton, Johannesburg.
This happens for a variety of reasons. It could be because you say one thing, while your partner hears another.
