Last May I wanted to do something special for my high-spirited, 98-year-old friend, Delores, who was known to all as Aunt Ditty. She had one wish. “I’d like to visit my old school, Little Flower Catholic School for Girls,” she said. “Little Flower is where I learned my most important lessons for life.”

So the next week we headed out, Aunt Ditty wearing a straw hat with a brim full of roses and a big smile. As we pulled up in front of the red brick exterior and walked through the iron gate, we were greeted by the school president and a huge board that read WELCOME HOME, DELORES.
