Save screenshots of YouTube videos

Last year, Google quietly added a feature to Chrome that lets you capture screenshots of YouTube videos. Right-click a video twice and choose ‘Copy video frame’ to take a screenshot of the content that’s currently playing. You can then paste the captured frame into an image editor or document at the original quality and resolution.

Chrome 121, released in January, adds a second option that lets you download screenshots directly to your PC. This saves you the trouble of copying and pasting frames into another program, and makes it easier to capture multiple screen grabs in quick succession.

To use the new feature, right-click a video twice but this time select ‘Save video frame as…’download the screenshot as a PNG file.
