Hunger stalks students awaiting NSFAS payments

HAUNTED by hunger, tertiary education students across the country are doing all they can to find food as they wait for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to pay their money.

From Durban to Zululand, Cape Town to East London, thousands of students at 26 tertiary institutions are food insecure and hope the NSFAS will pay the money into their accounts by next week.

Asive Dlanjwa, spokesperson of the South African Union of Students (Saus), the body that represents various student representative councils, told
