Fragile but strong

From the second Sanja was born, doctors knew that something was wrong.

She had blisters on her back and face, the first signs that she had a rare genetic skin condition called epidermolysis bullosa – EB for short.

‘It causes the skin to be very fragile and tear at the slightest touch,’ says Sanja. ‘Which means that I get wounds and blisters easily on my body.'

Sufferers are at risk of infection from the wounds and often live
