From sow’s ear to silk purse

Best laid plans etc… we sent the bodywork off to paint an edition or so ago, with the promise of a quick turnaround. Unfortunately, we hadn’t considered the Christmas shutdown and then our mate Rich at Hobnob Racepaints in Barnsley, who was doing the job for us, was struck down with Covid. So, all in all, we ended up with a month’s delay in getting the chassis back. However, we’re now back on track and it’s time for the rebuild!

One of the last snagging jobs we still need to do is to paint the stand. We did the forks and front hub before Christmas, but inadvertently forgot the stand, so we need to satin black that also. Then we need to mask off all the little holes on the outside, so that we can underseal the chassis, to give it the long-lasting weather protection that will be much needed. Once the underseal is dry, we can then flip the chassis on its side and start with the job of getting the main loom fitted. It’s not a job I’m particularly looking forward to, as it
